The Department of Mathematics (http://math.ucf.edu) of the University Of Central Florida (http://www.ucf.edu/) anticipates making up to two tenure track appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in the Fall of 2008. Strong preference will be given to applicants in

1) mathematical biology,

2) applied PDE’s,

3) special functions/orthogonal polynomials or harmonic analysis.

Exceptional candidates in other areas will be considered. Qualifications for the positions include a doctorate in mathematics or a closely-related discipline earned by the date of employment, a proven record of scholarly activities, and the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in a mathematics curriculum. Developing externally funded research grants is expected, and interest in interdisciplinary research is preferred.

Applicants should send curriculum vitae, letter of application, completed AMS Application Cover Sheet, and arrange for three recent recommendation letters (including one letter that addresses teaching) to be sent to the above address. Applicants are asked to classify themselves into one of the three areas to get full consideration by the committee. Pending budgetary approval, consideration of applications will begin December 10, 2007 and will continue until the positions are filled or the department closes the search. The candidates selected for these positions must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States and must prove eligibility within three days after hire.
