ATTENDANCE POLICY The likelihood of successful completion of the course with passing grades is greatly enhanced by regular attendance. Generally, there will be no makeup quizzes, no makeup exams, and late homework will not be accepted. Failure to take quizzes or exams, or late homework will result in a score of zero being given. Excused absences (death in family, medical problems, official UCF functions) for exams, quizzes and homework will not hurt your scores as long as I am notified no later than 24 hours after the absences and supported with written documentation within one week of the absence.
|
TESTS There will be five midterm exams during the semester. The lowest midterm exam grade will be dropped. In addition there will be a comprehensive final exam given during the finals week. The final exam grade cannot be dropped. These exams will compose the remaining 83% of your final grade. The use of graphing or programmable calculators and cell phones is strictly prohibited when taking exams. Anyone who is more than 15 minutes late for an exam will automatically receive a score of zero.
|
GRADING POLICY The course grade is determined by taking the top four scores from the five midterm grades, plus the final exam and the quizzes/homework. The final grade assignment follows the standard scale shown below. Note, a grade of NC is not permitted for this course.
|
GRADING SCALE |
| Average | Grade | | 90 - 100%
| A | | 80 - 89%
| B | | 70 - 79%
| C | | 60 - 69%
| D | | 0 - 59%
| F | |
NC POLICY A grade of NC is not permitted for this course.
|
OTHER INFORMATION Quizzes: One 15 minute quiz will be given every week. Questions for the quizzes will be similar to the problems at the end of each chapter. Quizzes will count 17% toward your final grade. At my option, homework problems taken from problems at the end of each chapter will be collected instead of the being given the weekly quiz
