| ATTENDANCE POLICY Regular attendance is an important component of this course. Students are expected to come prepared and attend each class.
| HOMEWORK Homeworks will be assigned for you to try. They will be checked and returned. They will not be graded. If you turn them in, then you will get the benefit of knowing whether you are able to solve problems and write answers correctly.
| TESTS There will be weekly quizzes every Thursday. They will be graded. There will be no makeup for missed quizzes; however one missed quiz will be forgiven. There will be three mideterm examinations; one after Chapter 1 (around January 28), the second after Chapter 3 (around March 1), and the third after Chapter 5 (around April 5). There will be a comprehensive final examination, which is scheduled for Monday, April 26, 1300-1550 in the ususal classroom. Students who miss an examination due to illness, school activity, etc., must present me with an approved excuse, in writing, in a timely manner. As a matter of courtesy, please inform me in advance if you expect to miss an examination. The grade of the Final Examination will be used as the grade for the missed examination. All examinations are closed book, closed notes.

| TENTATIVE LIST OF TOPICS Chapters 1-6 of Linear Algebra book with some omissions. Topics include the basic theory of abstract vector spaces, including subspaces, bases, and linear transformaions, matrices, including the correspondence with linear transfornations, elementary operations, rank, and systems of linear equations, determinants, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, diagonalization, and inner product spaces.
